John Summers Md Facc’s Expertise Experienced board-certified cardiac electrophysiologist serving as medical director of cardiac electrophysiology at SSM Saint Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In that capacity, developed and launched the complex ablation program now housed in a brand new, state of the art EP lab. Our lab performs close to 500 catheter ablation procedures per year including radiofrequency catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation, SVT, PVCs and ventricular tachycardia as well as cryoballoon ablation of atrial fibrillation, hybrid AF ablations (Convergent and Convergent +) and utilizes the latest electroanatomic mapping system. In addition, developed and runs a successful left atrial appendage closure program using both Watchman and Amplatzer Amulet left atrial appendage occlusion devices. Similarly, highly experienced in all forms of cardiac implantable electronic device implants with a particular interest in transcatheter percutaneous leadless pacing, cardiac resynchronization therapy, wearable technologies, and cryptogenic stroke. Launched the cardiovascular research program at SSM Saint Anthony Hospital and is currently principal investigator on several industry clinical trials. Our research program is remarkable for its status as a leading enrollment site for 3 major clinical trials including 2 first in human investigational device studies. Collaborates closely with pharmaceutical and medical device industry experts in the development and implementation of new therapies and best practices in cardiac rhythm management. Future interests and goals include further growth in the realm of cardiovascular research and examination of the centers of excellence model of care delivery for atrial fibrillation. Current areas of Clinical Research: Principal Investigator • SynchAV Post Market Trial o Brief Summary: evaluating the Abbott SynchAV cardiac resynchronization therapy(CRT) algorithm versus conventional CRT programming. • CATALYST Trial o Brief Summary: a prospective, randomized multicenter worldwide trial evaluating the safety and efficacy of the Amplatzer Amulet left atrial appendage occlusion device compared to direct oral anticoagulant therapy in patients with atrial fibrillation • AVEIR DR i2i IDE o Brief Summary: prospective, multi-center, international study designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the Abbott Aveir dual chamber leadless pacemaker • ReliaSeal o Brief Summary: evaluation of the safety and efficacy of the Cordis Mynx Control Venous Vascular Closure Device 6F-12F versus manual compression.
